What’s Involved In “No-Dig” Drain Pipe Relining
It’s a fact of life that drains and pipes sometimes get damaged, whether as a result of subsidence or activity from animals and tree roots. In the old days fixing damaged pipes could be difficult, messy and expensive!
In the past, you may have had to dig up the garden or remove your floors to get at pipes and repair them. Not only is this an intrusive and costly way to repair your pipes, but you’d be left with a serious mess afterwards. But now there’s another way thanks to remote or “no-dig” pipe re-lining!
We explain this and more in our guide below.
How Does Pipe Relining Work?
Pipe re-lining is a method by which an epoxy resin is applied to the inside of a damaged pipe, not the outside, giving the pipe a second skin that blocks up any cracks or holes and allows it to function just like new.
This means that not only will the existing damage be fixed, but it will also stop the damage from getting worse if the same thing happens again.
Utilising the latest in camera technology and strong, hard-wearing epoxy resin we are able to apply a tough coat to the inside of the pipe without ever having to sink a spade or make a mess on the surface.
The resin fills all of the cracks and holes on the surface of the pipe from within to protect it from damage inside and out, and we are then able to give the pipe a visual inspection to give it a clean bill of health once the work is complete.
For pipes that require extra strength solutions in order to deal with the strains of being under paths, buildings or roadways, we can also apply a high strength lining that then cures and seals in place, so you don’t have to worry about the repair breaking again afterwards.
What Are The Benefits of No-Dig Pipe Relining?
No-dig pipe relining is almost totally non-invasive, so there’s no need to make a mess of your garden, dig up your patio or ruin your drive. It’s even better for pipes that may have been totally inaccessible due to being under foundations or other difficult to move objects because we can carry out the work from the surface.
Not only is this much less messy and much less hassle, but it also costs far less, because you don’t have to worry about making repairs on your property and cleaning up afterwards and it’s a much faster process.
Finally, no-dig pipe re-lining is more than just a quick fix! Not only can it repair immediate problems, but it can also extend the life of your pipes and even improve their flow rate and efficiency, so the work will pay itself back in no time!
How Much Does Pipe Relining Cost?
The cost of your no-dig pipe re-line will depend on the size and complexity of the job, as well as the length and size of the pipe, but a standard rule of thumb is that you’ll pay around $500 per metre for 150mm pipe.
That’s often less than just the excavation cost alone in a typical pipe re-lining job!
