Scope of Work:
O’Brien Electrical & Plumbing Rowville was engaged by Devco Project and Construction Management to deliver full-scale commercial electrical construction and solar installation for the new Ratisbonne Discovery Centre at Our Lady of Sion College — the largest build in the school’s 96-year history.
The project included power and lighting infrastructure across a new three-storey education and administration facility featuring advanced science laboratories, flexible arts spaces, fitness areas, meeting rooms, and offices. Our team executed all underground works, power and data cabling, switchboard upgrades, and the supply and installation of energy-efficient fittings. Notable sustainability features included an 83kW solar system and DALI lighting automation for motion-activated control.
A fibre optic communications backbone was installed, connecting the new facility with existing school infrastructure. Specialised safety systems – such as gas shut-off controls and fume cupboard wiring – were designed to ensure secure learning environments.
Ongoing collaboration between our team, the builder, and the college resulted in a high-quality finish that was both technically advanced and user-friendly, with minimal disruption to school operations.
The Ratisbonne Discovery Centre now stands as a benchmark for sustainable and future-ready education environments.
If something didn’t fit, O’Brien would speak to us and we had a conversation to find a solution that best suited everyone, which was really valuable. They integrated the old with the new really well too. Every stage of the project was delivered on time and within budget, all while maintaining full operational capacity of the school, ensuring minimal disruption to staff and students.
