Scope of Work:
The Padua College project involved the delivery of the new Years 7–8 Centre – a STEM and science facility designed to accommodate 550 students. O’Brien Electrical & Plumbing Rowville was contracted to deliver a full-scale electrical package that would integrate seamlessly with existing campus infrastructure while supporting the modern learning environment. Our scope included underground conduits, new switchboards, sub mains cabling, specialist and general lighting, DALI lighting control, power distribution, emergency lighting, skirting ducting, communications racks, fibre links to existing buildings, and public address and hearing augmentation systems.
Design and functionality were critical drivers throughout the project, with particular attention given to sustainable outcomes and future-readiness. The amphitheatre served as the architectural highlight, featuring a central pendant, wall, step, and seat lighting – all managed by a DALI control system. Motion-detection technology was installed throughout the facility to reduce energy usage, and a provisional circuit breaker and dedicated switchboard were included to enable future integration of solar PV systems.
New optic fibre cabling was installed to link the new building to the existing school network, with new communication racks on each level. Delivered on time and without disruption to the school calendar, this project exemplified excellence in planning, design execution, and environmental consciousness – cementing Padua College’s new facility as a progressive learning environment for generations to come.
O’Brien was more of a partner, than just a service provider. In terms of delivery expectations, they exceeded those with the delivery on-site. We wouldn’t have been able to do this project without O’Brien Rowville.
