In some cases, a windscreen chip on a truck or bus can be repaired (just like a chip in a standard vehicle windscreen). Our specialist vehicle glass technicians will assess the damage on your windscreen to see if we can fix the chip using our Advanced Repair Technology (ART) system.
If the chip can’t be repaired, we will recommend a complete windscreen replacement. At O’Brien, we have a repair-first policy, so we always prefer to try to repair a chipped windscreen with our system rather than replace it (as it’s faster, cheaper and greener).
Once the new windscreen glass for your truck or bus is available at the fitting location, our team of O’Brien expert technicians can usually replace your bus or truck windscreen in around 90 minutes. Depending on the size of your vehicle (and new windscreen), you will be required to wait between 1 and 2 hours before you can drive away.
We recommend avoiding washing your truck or bus (by hand or drive-through wash) or touching, pushing or putting any pressure on the new glass within the first 24 hours after replacement, as this may interfere with the adhesive setting process.
As Australia’s leading vehicle glass repairer, we carry an expansive range of windscreen and window glass for trucks and buses, often reducing wait times for replacements. If we don’t have the specific glass in stock for your truck or bus, we’ll order the required glass and keep you advised of the expected time for delivery to your nearest fitting location.
If you notice a crack in your windscreen (no matter how small), we recommend you immediately consult a vehicle glass professional like O’Brien. Regardless of size, cracks make your windscreen vulnerable and sensitive to pressure from weather conditions like rain, snow, or debris like stones. These can easily worsen your windscreen damage, and impair driver visibility.

Yes, we can arrange that. Our O’Brien technicians will complete the windscreen replacement at your dealer’s location, and the dealer will perform a recalibration service immediately after.
What is the cost for truck and bus glass replacement or repair?
The cost of fixing your truck or bus glass damage will depend on various factors, including the size and location of the damage, the vehicle make and model and whether you have insurance coverage.
As Australia’s leading vehicle glass specialists, we work closely with most major insurance providers. If you are insured with glass cover and no excess, your repair or replacement will more than likely be at no cost to you, plus we often can even lodge the claim for you!
