What is ADAS?

ADAS stands for Advanced Driver Assistance Systems. This in-vehicle technology alerts the driver to potential road hazards. In some cases, it can even take control of the vehicle if necessary.

Through a complex system of cameras, sensors, radars and onboard computers, these systems are designed to supplement driver capabilities or correct driver errors and help to reduce accidents, injuries and fatalities on our roads.

When is ADAS recalibration required?

Many vehicle owners overlook the necessity of recalibration in various instances. For example, windscreen replacements, tyre changes or wheel alignments, disconnection or partial removal of cameras, and certain technical repairs can all potentially misalign a vehicle’s ADAS, requiring camera recalibration.

Failing to recalibrate can result in unreliable ADAS safety features, including false warnings, misjudged distances, and steering pull. It is crucial not to overlook the manufacturer’s recommended recalibration process in these situations to ensure the proper functioning of your vehicle’s ADAS.

Unique to O’Brien, our Cal-Tech® ADAS Recalibration service uses state-of-the-art technology. Supported by Bosch, this technology is frequently updated and tried and tested on many of the newest vehicles. Our in-house technicians regularly undertake quality technical training programmes to ensure your recalibration is completed correctly.

As part of our in-branch services, we will perform the recalibration of your vehicle’s forward-facing camera following the windscreen replacement. Our Cal-Tech® process is conducted in a controlled and optimal environment, with factors such as correct lighting and a level surface, to ensure the safety features function as the manufacturer intends.

How much will ADAS recalibration cost?

The cost of recalibrating your forward-facing camera(s) of your vehicle’s ADAS will vary on your vehicle make and model and whether you have insurance coverage for glass damage. The cost of our Cal-Tech® service is bundled with the windscreen replacement.
