350 m² of precision-crafted glazing transforming a high-profile showroom
The O’Brien Glass Building & Fitout team has completed the full external glazing package for the new Sunstruct Automotive Showroom in Caloundra – delivering a striking 350 m² glazed façade across a two-level commercial site.
From aluminium framing systems and structural window assemblies to complete entry solutions, O’Brien provided a seamless end-to-end service: design, fabrication and installation through a single, expert partner.
Where Design Ambition Meets On-Site Execution
This project demanded more than standard glazing. The brief called for expansive, high-visibility glass panels and automated entry systems positioned across two levels – all installed with absolute accuracy to create clean lines, uninterrupted sightlines and a premium customer experience.
Set in a coastal environment, the façade also needed to meet stringent thermal, structural and compliance requirements. The end outcome had to be more than beautiful – it had to be durable, efficient and engineered for local conditions.
Precision Starts in the Planning
To ensure a smooth delivery, the team invested heavily in meticulous preparation. Comprehensive shop drawings were developed early, and all aluminium framing was prefabricated offsite to minimise onsite variables and improve installation efficiency.
Staged deliveries ensured every component arrived exactly when the construction program required it, while experienced commercial glaziers completed the fitout with control and consistency. Managing fabrication and install under one umbrella meant tighter quality assurance, faster problem-solving and a cleaner workflow on site.
Collaboration Driving Every Decision
Throughout the build, O’Brien partnered closely with Sunstruct. An internal project management team oversaw sequencing, approvals and site logistics, maintaining a clear line of communication from start to finish.
This collaborative approach ensured the glazing package integrated smoothly with other trades – flexing and adapting as site conditions evolved, without compromising timelines or quality.
Safety, Quality & Compliance at the Core
Given the scale of the panels and the height of installation, safety was paramount. Mechanical lifting aids, coordinated access planning and strict handling procedures kept the team and site environment protected.
All glazing systems were manufactured and installed to meet applicable Australian Standards, including AS1288, with quality checks embedded at every stage – from design through to final sign-off.
A Showroom That Turns Heads
The completed façade delivers a light-filled, modern and high-impact frontage that makes the showroom impossible to miss. Its uninterrupted glazing not only elevates the building’s architecture but also spotlights multiple brands clearly from the street – achieving Sunstruct’s vision for a bold, open and inviting commercial presence.
This project reflects the O’Brien Glass Building & Fitout team’s capability to deliver large-scale glazing with precision, reliability and confidence.
What the Client Had to Say
“O’Brien went well beyond what they needed to. They stepped up, offered ideas on how we could adapt and change, and suggested products that really worked for the project.
Not just the quality of the work, but the effort they put into communicating stood out. We would definitely recommend O’Brien to other builders.”
