Give your pets the freedom they deserve
If you’re tired of getting up to let your cat and dog out at all times of the night and day – a pet door is the solution! Pet doors help give your furry family members the freedom to come and go as they please, leaving you free to get on with more important stuff.
If your pet is still struggling to learn the ins and outs of toilet training, a pet door could save you from a lot of annoying little accidents.
We will assist you in choosing the most appropriate dog or cat door from the range of options we offer. The range we’ve selected is both practical and durable to help withstand the regular comings and goings of pets.
We can supply and install a range of different sized pet doors into glass.
We’re also offering contactless payment methods and services to help limit physical contact between our glaziers and customers.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do you only install pet doors in glass? What about timber doors or security screens?
At O’Brien®, we only install pet doors in glass which is our speciality.
What is the process for installing a pet door in glass?
When you get a pet door installed by O’Brien® our glazier will visit your home twice. The first time is to assess and advise on where the pet door should be installed. At that time, our glazier will also measure the panel to be replaced. From there, your pet door is custom installed into a glass pane that is custom made for your space. On the second visit to your home, the glazier will complete the installation and your pet can use the door straight away. We only use toughened glass, which is a type of safety glass, to withstand the comings and goings of your pet.
How much does a pet door installation cost?
It depends on the size of the glass panel which is being replaced. We install toughened glass where the pet door will go, and the price we quote includes the cost of the pet door, replacing the glass and the glaziers time. Plus, we provide a lifetime guarantee on all workmanship.
Why can’t you use the existing glass for the pet door?
For the safety of your pets and for durability, we only use toughened glass. Toughened glass has to be cut to size to suit your requirements, including the hole where the pet door will be installed. Toughened glass is also more durable to withstand the constant flexing and knocking it will endure as a result of your pet going in and out of the door.
What type of pet door do you use?
We use a brand called Transcat, which uses a tough polycarbonate plastic and is ideal for installation into glass. We partner with a New Zealand company that have been manufacturing Transcat Cat and Dog Doors for over 30 years. We are happy to install pet doors you have bought elsewhere but recommend you consult us first so we can advise what is going to best serve your needs.
Are your pet doors suitable for all pet sizes?
Transcat offers pet doors in different sizes. We recommend you pick a size to suit the anticipated adult size of your pet.
How do I know which pet door to choose and where to have it installed?
That’s where our O’Brien® expert glaziers can help! We recommend that the smallest possible door your full-grown pet will fit through is installed. The location of your pet door should allow your pet easy access to a garden or safe space away from busy roads. At O’Brien®, we only install pet doors in glass, which are most suited to low-level glazed panels in a door or sidelight or a lowlight panel located on the perimeter of a room. They can also be installed on sliding doors, as long as appropriate consideration is given to allow for the passing gap when the doors are opened. We do suggest that a pet door should not be easily visible from the street as this could be seen as an access point for burglars.
