Give your pets their own entrance while maintaining the aesthetics of the glass in your home.
Our pets love the freedom to potter about inside and head outside when they need to. As a pet owner, you know they often change their minds several times a day, which can be frustrating and inconvenient for you.
O’Brien Glass® has the solution for you – a pet door installed into customised, toughened safety glass.
The best access for your pet to reach the outdoors is via a glass door, window or panel. Homes are often filled with glass doors and window panels to bring in the light and connect with the outside of the house. We wouldn’t want you to compromise on this feature, so you can now have pet-friendly entry points for your family’s furry friends set into your existing glass doors or windows.
Durable, safe, effective and aesthetically pleasing, O’Brien Glass® offers you a variety of functional pet doors for your home, perfect for installing into glass.
Our glazing experts will assist you in choosing the most suitable option from a range of tried and tested, multi-featured pet doors designed to fit the tiniest of fur babies to the largest of the giant breeds.

Here’s the steps to getting a Pet Door installed with O’Brien Glass®:
After first arranging an appointment with our glazing experts via phone, it’s an easy three-step process:
- Our experienced glazier will measure the existing glass panel and the location of the pet door opening on the first visit.
- We then work on creating your custom-made toughened glass panel. This could take up to 14 days as it is specially designed to fit your space and your chosen pet door.
- On the second visit, the glazier will remove your existing glass and install your custom-made toughened safety glass panel. They will then install the pet door into the new glass.
And if your custom-made toughened glass panel requires tinting or film applied, we can also help with that. View our tinting and film page for some of the benefits of using tinting and film on glass in your home.
We care about your safety, which is why we operate with contactless payment methods and services to help limit physical contact between our glaziers and our customers.

Frequently Asked Questions
What type of pet doors do you use?
We use pet doors from the renowned brands Transcat and Aussie Pet Doors, which use tough polycarbonate plastic, ideal for installation into glass. All pet doors installed are glass compliant, with each door type having minimum panel width requirements for installation. We’ll help you choose the best door solution for your home and pet.
Are your pet doors suitable for all pet sizes?
We have a range of tried and tested sizes of pet doors that will perfectly fit your dog or cat – ranging from Small through to Extra Large. Be sure to check the dimensions to find the size suitable for your pet. View our range of pet doors above.
How do I know which pet door to choose?
We recommend you choose a door that will suit your full-grown pet. Use the weight-range guide as an indicator of the most appropriate door size to choose. View our range of pet doors above. Our O’Brien Glass® Glazing Solutions team can help if you provide your pet’s measurements (chest width & shoulder height) if you’re not sure. Call 1800 018 886 to speak to our team today.
Where should I have the pet door installed?
The location of your pet door should allow your pet easy or level access to a garden or safe space away from busy roads. At O’Brien Glass®, we only install pet doors in glass, most suited to low-level glazed panels in a door or sidelight or a lowlight panel located on the perimeter of a room.
We also install pet doors on sliding doors, as long as appropriate consideration is given to allow for the passing gap when the doors are opened. We suggest that your pet door should not be easily visible from the street as this could be an access point for burglars.
Can pet doors be installed in any glass panel?
No, you will need to first determine a few important details before deciding on where to install your pet door. Things to consider include the size of the pet door, the minimum glass panel size for the chosen pet door and the type of window or door that you’re thinking of installing the pet door. For example, some pet doors cannot be installed in sliding doors.
Our O’Brien Glass® solutions team will be able to assist in determining if where you’re thinking of putting the pet door will work. Be prepared to provide measurements of the glass panels (and photos) to help with your enquiry. If you are unsure where to put the pet door, our O’Brien Glass® glazier can help when they visit your premises for the initial visit. We’ll work with you to recommend the best location for your pet door that’s safe for your pet and your family.
Do you only install pet doors in glass? What about timber doors or security screens?
At O’Brien®, we only install pet doors in glass as this is our speciality. Our chosen range of pet doors are glass compliant, so you can be sure that your chosen door solution will be safely and securely installed, keeping your family and pet safe.
How much does pet door installation cost?
The cost of pet door installation depends on the size of the glass panel being replaced. Since we install toughened glass where the pet door will go, the price we quote includes the cost of the pet door, replacing the glass and the glazier’s time.
We’ve installed thousands of pet doors in all kinds of glass, so you can be assured of a quality installation that is safe for your pet and family. We’ll be able to provide an estimate over the phone based on the measurements of the glass panel you’re wanting to install the pet door in. When the glazier attends for the first appointment, they can confirm the cost and any recommended changes.
Why can’t you use the existing glass for the pet door?
For safety and durability purposes, we only use toughened glass. This custom-made glass has to be precisely cut to size to suit your requirements, including the hole where the pet door will be installed. Toughened glass is more resilient to the constant flexing and knocking it will endure as your pet goes in and out of the door. See what is involved in our Pet door installation process above.
