For some vehicle models where the Cal-Tech® system is not yet available, we have relationships with many car manufacturer dealerships and will gladly arrange the recalibration on your behalf.

How is a Windscreen Replaced?

  1. We protect your vehicle’s interior using padded bonnet covers and seat protection covers.
  2. We safely remove the windscreen from your vehicle using our Ezi-Wire tool, which uses a tough string to cut round the windscreen seal as opposed to using sharp metal knives.
  3. We apply a primer to the vehicle’s framework, and a strong bonding glue to the new windscreen.
  4. We carefully fit your new windscreen in place using our expert 1-Tek® tool. This allows our technicians to safely and accurately lift and position your windscreen correctly.

How do you know which windscreen to replace in my vehicle?

What if my car has cameras – will the windscreen replacement affect this?

Most manufacturers require vehicles with forward-facing cameras that form part of driver-assist systems (such as automated braking, lane departure warnings etc.) to be recalibrated after a windscreen replacement. If the camera is a few millimetres out, it may no longer function as the manufacturer intended, which could increase the risk of collision. At O’Brien®, we stay up to date with advances in technology – that’s why we’ve introduced a tool specifically designed to check that the camera that looks through your windscreen is calibrated and working properly before you leave. We call this technology Cal-Tech®  recalibration. And, we believe the safest option is to recalibrate the camera where the manufacturer requires it. To make it easy and save you time, in many cases, we can perform both a windscreen replacement and a Cal-Tech® recalibration at the same time.
