Cal-Tech® ADAS Recalibration

ADAS Recalibration - the O’Brien® way.
ADAS technology plays a critical role in modern vehicles, assisting drivers with features such as lane keeping assist, autonomous emergency braking, adaptive cruise control and collision warnings. After a windscreen replacement, most vehicle manufacturers recommend a camera recalibration to maintain the integrity of your vehicle’s Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS).
When these systems rely on cameras mounted to or viewing through the windscreen, even minor changes can affect accuracy. That’s why recalibration is essential after vehicle glass replacement or repairs.
O’Brien® AutoGlass state-of-the-art Cal-Tech® ADAS Recalibration windscreen recalibration service uses the latest in-vehicle technology, to help restore your vehicle’s safety cameras and sensors to manufacturer specifications. Book an O’Brien® Cal-Tech® ADAS Recalibration today.
What is ADAS?
Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) recalibration is the process of realigning and resetting vehicle cameras and sensors to alert the driver to potential road hazards. Through a complex system of cameras, sensors, radars and onboard computers, it corrects driver errors, helping to reduce accidents, injuries and fatalities on our roads.
Recalibration may be performed using static calibration, dynamic calibration, or a combination of both, depending on your vehicle’s requirements. This process ensures that safety systems respond as intended by the vehicle manufacturer following a windscreen replacement or other relevant repair work.
At O’Brien®, when it comes to replacing a windscreen in a vehicle with ADAS, our Cal-Tech® Recalibration service focuses on the forward-facing camera(s) of your ADAS system.
When is ADAS recalibration required?
Many vehicle owners overlook the necessity of recalibration in various instances.
ADAS recalibration may be required after:
• Windscreen replacement
• Accident or body repairs
• Wheel alignment or suspension work
• Removal or replacement of cameras or sensors
Failing to recalibrate can result in unreliable ADAS safety features, including false warnings, misjudged distances, and steering pull. It is crucial not to overlook the manufacturer’s recommended recalibration process in these situations to ensure the proper functioning of your vehicle’s ADAS. Contact an O’Brien® technician to assess your vehicle and confirm whether recalibration is required.

ADAS Features
Some of the most common and impactful ADAS features include:
Adaptive Cruise Control: Maintains a safe distance from the vehicle ahead by automatically adjusting your speed, making long drives and traffic jams less stressful while reducing the risk of rear-end collisions.
Forward Collision Warning: Detects an impending collision with vehicles or objects in your path and alerts drivers, providing crucial seconds to react and avoid an accident.
Lane Departure Warning: Monitors lane markings and warns drivers if the vehicle unintentionally drifts out of its lane, helping to prevent accidents caused by distraction or driver fatigue.
Automatic Emergency Braking: Engages the brakes automatically in emergency situations to help avoid or lessen the impact of a collision.
Blind Spot Detection: Uses sensors to monitor areas alongside and behind your vehicle, alerting you to other vehicles in your blind spots when changing lanes.
Rear Cross Traffic Alert: Warns drivers of approaching vehicles or obstacles when reversing out of a parking space, reducing the risk of accidents in busy car parks.
Active Parking Assistance: Assists with steering and braking to guide your vehicle safely into a parking space, making parking easier and safer, even in tight spots.
Driver Drowsiness Detection: Monitors driver behaviour and provides alerts if signs of fatigue or inattention are detected, helping to prevent accidents caused by driver drowsiness.
Pedestrian Detection: Identifies pedestrians in the vehicle’s path and alerts the driver, or even applies emergency braking, to help prevent collisions and improve road safety for all users.
Traffic Sign Recognition: Detects and displays important traffic signs, such as speed limits, directly to the driver, helping you stay informed and compliant with road rules.
