At a secret testing facility, O'Brien® went to new heights and lifted a Holden Astra off the ground by its windscreen!
This was the first time ever that a car lift has been attempted here in Australia. A custom made frame was created and secured to a Holden Astra windscreen, for the crane to hook onto.
Then after following the O'Brien® windscreen replacement process, the new windscreen plus attached frame were fitted back onto the car.
In front of amazed onlookers, the car was lifted slowly, steadily and fully off the ground. All that was holding the weight of the car was the bond between the windscreen and the car!
The Holden Astra weighs 1125kg
The frame attached to the windscreen is 110kg
The windscreen adhesive can support 24 tonnes
The crane reaches 18 metres high and can hold up to 25 tonnes
