Our Commitment To You
O’Brien® is a people powered organisation. We believe that providing a safe and healthy work environment for all our employees, contractors and members of the public is an essential part of our commitment as a responsible business. Safety is not just a policy — it is a value we live every day, across every role, in every location.
A Culture Built on Safety
Your health, safety and wellbeing are important to us — and each of us plays a key role in ensuring a safe work environment for ourselves, our teammates, our partners and our customers. We regularly encourage open dialogue and new ideas to help make our sites, offices and mobile fleet safer for everyone.
Through our safety systems, we give our employees the training and skills to feel confident in their roles. We aim to minimise the hazards inherent in our working environment and deal with issues that pose a threat to safety, health and wellbeing. Our ambition is that everyone who works with and for O’Brien® goes home safely, every single day.
Our Safety Priorities
Risk Management
We proactively identify, assess and control risks across all our operations, so our teams can work with confidence and our customers can trust in our professionalism.

WHS Systems
Our Work Health and Safety systems and policies set clear standards across every part of the business.

Contractor Management
We hold our contractors to the same high safety standards we set for our own team, ensuring everyone on our sites and in our customer homes are protected.

Health and Wellbeing
Beyond physical safety, we invest in the mental and physical wellbeing of every team member through programs, education and support resources.

Consultation and Communication
Consultation and Communication
The best ideas about making our workplaces safer come from the people who work in them. We act on what our teams tell us.

Programs that protect and support our people
Physical Wellbeing
mO'bilise
mO’bilise is O’Brien®’s strength and mobility program, developed with Macquarie University physiotherapy students to help prevent musculoskeletal injuries. Available to our AutoGlass, glazing and distribution centre teams, it encourages employees to warm up, cool down and stretch throughout the day — preparing the body for work and reducing the risk of sprain and strain injuries.
New Technician Support
Start StrO'ng
Developed for new O’Brien® AutoGlass technicians, Start StrO’ng builds strength and readiness over six weeks before transitioning into the full role. It includes personalised sessions with an occupational therapist and physiologist to create tailored exercise programs for each individual.
Mental & Physical Wellbeing
gO'Well
The gO’Well program focuses on the overall wellbeing of our people — from recognising important moments like World Mental Health Day and R U OK? Day, to providing mental health first aid training through St John Ambulance.
It also connects employees and their immediate families to our Employee Assistance Program (EAP) — a free, confidential counselling and support service available anytime, for any issue.
O’Brien® Plumbing & Electrical
Safer Together Minimum Safety Standards
Launched in 2024, these standards give our Plumbing & Electrical members a clear framework to ensure safety risks are properly managed across their businesses.
Backed by Belron® Global Standards
As part of the global Belron® Group, O’Brien® operates within a world-class safety framework. The Belron® Safety, Health and Wellbeing Global Standards comprise 15 standards that cover all aspects of our commitment to safety, health and wellbeing — allowing us to maintain consistent, high minimum standards and benchmark our progress across the Group. Safety performance is reviewed at Global Leadership and Board level, reflecting how seriously we take this agenda.
